What is Mineral Sunscreen?

However, mineral ingredients are naturally white powders, which means they can leave a white cast on the skin, especially on darker skin tones. To avoid this, our mineral sunscreen has a light tint that adapts to the skin's color.

What is Chemical Sunscreen?

Unlike mineral sunscreens, chemical sunscreens use ingredients that absorb UV rays, converting them into heat. While very effective, they can cause irritation or allergic reactions in some people, especially those with sensitive skin. Chemical sunscreens require frequent application, every 2 hours, to maintain protection.

SPF – What Does It Actually Mean?

Sun Protection Factor (SPF) measures how well a cream protects the skin from UVB rays, which are responsible for sunburns and dark spots on the skin. Broad-spectrum sunscreen protects against both UVA and UVB rays, with UVA rays penetrating deeper into the skin and breaking down collagen faster.

Incorporating Sunscreen into Your Daily Routine

The sun can damage your skin even when it is cloudy, so it is important to use SPF daily. It is recommended to apply sunscreen every morning on the face and neck, and on the hands if possible. An amount of half a teaspoon is sufficient for the face and neck. The sunscreen should be at least SPF 30, waterproof, and broad-spectrum, and it is recommended to be the final step in your morning skincare routine.

Tips for Choosing the Right Sunscreen

• Choose sunscreens with SPF between 15 and 30 as higher SPF provides only marginally better protection.
• Avoid sprays that do not ensure an even layer and can be harmful when inhaled.
• For children, choose specially formulated creams, and keep babies out of direct sunlight.
