How it all began
Back in 2008, in the small village of Rečica Kriška in the north-eastern part of Zagreb County, on the slopes of Moslavačka gora not far from Zagreb, the Trut family's small agricultural holding began the organic cultivation of Budrovka lavender. The first lavender was planted in the spring of 2008 and the fields have remained under certified organic cultivation ever since. Alongside lavender, the farm produces a range of lavender preparations, honey, fruit brandies and more. In 2012, after years of experience across different companies and business roles, the youngest member of the family farm, Ivana Trut, took a decisive step into a new independent venture — her own company, registered in Zagreb for the production of natural cosmetics under the brand Mala od lavande.
From the very start she built valuable relationships in the cosmetic and aromatherapy world. Together with external collaborators she developed an enviable range of more than 200 natural products for face and body care. Many partners and collaborators follow her on this path and encourage her in an already saturated market, where Mala od lavande has earned a high standing in natural cosmetics from day one.
Sales rely entirely on the web and on word-of-mouth recommendations — a model that has brought customers back time and again, drawn by the quality, the natural composition and the very fair price of our products compared to many competitors. The vision behind Mala od lavande is to reach beyond Croatia and to build a Croatian brand recognised for its quality and for natural ingredients that benefit health for everyone, bringing our country closer to markets around the world.
We are proud of our logo, which speaks for itself: our products are natural, never tested on animals, and free of harmful ingredients or additives. Most products also carry our small Vegan friendly stamp — a simple promise that nothing inside is of animal origin. In the first half of our very first year, our message was clear: This is only the beginning!
