For the gentle skin of little ones and paws

For children (3+)

A child being bathed with the natural Nettle Shampoo — Mala od lavande

Children's skin is still delicate and sensitive, yet already "its own" — with its little quirks, dry little cheeks, redness from the wind, rough little hands after playing outside.
The rule still holds: less is more, especially when we are talking about ingredients.

Why natural cosmetics matter for children aged 3 and up

Children's skin is still thinner and more sensitive than adult skin.
Strong fragrances, harsh surfactants and synthetic additives can dry it out further, irritate it or overburden it.
Simple, natural formulations built around a small number of carefully chosen ingredients are often the best choice for everyday care.

Natural care means relying on ingredients the skin readily accepts: plant oils, butters, hydrosols and mild natural cleansers.
Our products are intended for children aged 3 and up.

Which products we recommend for children (3+)

Instead of a separate "children's line", we have one clear goal: every one of our products should be gentle and natural enough that, used with common sense, it can be shared by adults and children over the age of three.

Our formulations:

  • have passed the safety assessments required for use on children aged 3 and up
  • are built around mild, natural ingredients
  • always contain less than 1% essential oil in the formulation — precisely to reduce the risk of irritation and unwanted reactions

In everyday practice that means:
What a parent uses on their own skin can generally also be used on a child (3+) — in smaller amounts and with a little extra care.

Patch test — a small step for great peace of mind

However gentle a formulation may be, every skin has its own story — especially a child's.
That is why we always recommend:

  • apply a small amount of product to a small patch of skin (for example, the inside of the forearm)
  • wait 24 hours and watch for redness, itching or other reactions
  • only if everything is fine, use the product on a larger area

For children, a very small amount of product applied to clean, dry skin is usually enough — there is no need to overdo it.

How to care for children's skin (3+)

1

Gentle cleansing

A short lukewarm shower or bath. A small amount of mild natural cleanser can be added as needed — not necessarily every day.

2

Protection and hydration

After bathing, apply a thin layer of the chosen butter or cream to still slightly damp skin. Pay extra attention to areas that dry faster (cheeks, arms, legs).

3

Soothing the sensitive spots

For occasional redness or dryness, reach for products with calming plant oils and butters. It is always wise to test a new product first on a smaller area of skin and watch for any reaction (Patch test).

If you notice more pronounced skin changes, persistent redness or itching, it is best to arrange a visit to the paediatrician or dermatologist — natural care supports healthy skin, but medicine has the final word.

For expectant mothers

Pregnancy is a time of great changes — in life and on the skin. Hormones, the skin stretching, a heightened sensitivity to fragrances… all of this shapes what feels right and what you choose to put on your body.

Safe products during pregnancy

During pregnancy the emphasis is on:

  • ingredient lists that are as simple and easy to read as possible
  • products without harsh chemicals or intense synthetic fragrances
  • gentle yet nourishing oils and butters that preserve the elasticity of the skin

Natural care during pregnancy does not mean "a sea of products" — it means a smart selection of a few key allies.

Stretch-mark prevention

Stretch marks depend on genetics, how quickly the belly grows and how elastic the skin is — there is no magic wand, but good care can help the skin cope more easily with the changes.

  • Regular massage of the belly, hips and thighs with mild, nourishing oils or a butter
  • Care applied right after the shower, while the skin is still slightly damp
  • Patience and consistency — a little bit every day beats a lot, only now and then

Recommended products for expectant mothers

  • nourishing body butters
  • a rich oil blend for the belly and hips
  • a gentle cream for areas prone to dryness (such as the breasts and lower back)
  • hydration
If you have any specific diagnoses or therapies, it is always wise to coordinate additionally with your doctor.

For pets

Our furry family members cannot read an ingredient list, but they can absolutely feel the difference between harsh and gentle products.
Cats' and dogs' paws are often exposed to hot asphalt, salt, ice and small stones, and the skin can become dry, cracked and sensitive.

Natural products safe for dogs and cats

With pets it is important to:

  • use only products intended for external application
  • avoid strong fragrances and irritating ingredients (fragrances in general, wherever possible)
  • make sure they do not lick the treated area (briefly restrict licking or use a protective cover if needed)

Paw care

Paws are their "shoes" — they carry them everywhere.

An example of paw care:

After a walk the paws can be gently wiped with a damp cloth.
As needed, a thin layer of a rich natural salve or balm is applied to clean, dry pad skin.
The protective layer is strengthened and the discomfort eases when the pads are cracked or dry.

Dry skin in pets

For occasional dry skin:

  • choose simple, natural salves without unnecessary additives
  • apply in a thin layer and watch the reaction
  • if the condition does not improve or gets worse — contact the veterinarian without delay
Important: any product you use on pets should always be for external application. In case of larger skin damage or suspected allergy, the veterinarian is the first step.

Why Mala od lavande?

When you are looking after children, expectant mothers and pets, you choose what you trust. Mala od lavande is a small family brand that has grown alongside the families who have been with us for years.

Natural, without unnecessary additives

We keep our ingredient lists short and easy to read, with the emphasis on quality plant oils, butters and natural active ingredients.

Safe for the most sensitive

Our philosophy is always the same: if it is not gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, it does not go into our products.

A family story, a small team, great care

Every jar and every bottle passes through human hands, not a conveyor belt. And when we say "handmade", we truly mean handmade — we cannot fill 2,000 bottles in a single day.
We know what goes into our products and why — and we stand behind it.

And most importantly...
Never tested on animals

We love those paws far too much to ever use them for testing.
