For Children (3+)

Bathing a child with natural Nettle shampoo - Mala od lavande

Children's skin is still delicate and sensitive, but already "its own" enough to have its little quirks – dry cheeks, redness from the wind, rough hands after playing outside.
The rule still applies: less is more, especially when we talk about ingredients.

Why is natural cosmetics important for children aged 3 and over?

Children's skin is still thinner and more sensitive than adult skin.
Perfumes, strong surfactants and synthetic additives can additionally dry out, irritate or burden the skin.
Simple, natural formulations with fewer carefully selected ingredients are often the best choice for everyday care.

Natural care means relying on ingredients that the skin easily accepts: plant oils, butters, hydrolats and gentle natural cleansers.
Our products are intended for children aged 3 and over.

Which products do we recommend for children (3+)?

Instead of a special "children's line", we have one main goal: that all our products are gentle and natural enough that, with common sense, both adults and children over 3 years old can use them.

Our formulations:

  • have passed the necessary safety analyses for use in children aged 3 and over
  • are based on gentle, natural ingredients
  • always contain less than 1% essential oil in the formulation, precisely to reduce the risk of irritation and unwanted reactions

In practice, this means:
What a parent uses for their skin can generally also be used by a child (3+), of course, in smaller quantities and with a little extra care.

Patch test – a small step for great safety

No matter how gentle the formulations are, every skin is a story of its own, especially children's skin.
That's why we always recommend:

  • apply a small amount of product to a small area of skin (e.g., inner forearm)
  • wait 24 hours and watch for redness, itching or other reactions
  • only if everything is fine, use the product on a larger area

For children, a very small amount of product applied to clean, dry skin is usually sufficient – there's no need to overdo it.

How to care for children's skin (3+)?

1

Gentle Cleansing

Short showers or baths in lukewarm water. If needed, add a small amount of gentle natural cleansers, not necessarily every day.

2

Protection and Hydration

After bathing, apply a thin layer of chosen butter or cream to still slightly damp skin. Pay special attention to areas that dry out faster (cheeks, hands, legs).

3

Soothing Sensitive Areas

For occasional redness or dryness, choose products with soothing plant oils and butters. It's always good to first try a new product on a small area of skin and monitor the reaction (Patch test).

If you notice significant changes in the skin, persistent redness or itching, it's best to schedule a check-up with a pediatrician or dermatologist – natural care supports healthy skin, but medicine has the final word.

For Pregnant Women

Pregnancy is a time of great changes, both in life and on the skin. Hormones, stretching skin, sensitivity to smells... All of this affects what suits you and what you choose to put on your body.

Safe products during pregnancy

For pregnant women, the emphasis is on:

  • ingredients that are as simple and readable as possible
  • products without aggressive chemicals and intense synthetic fragrances
  • gentle but nourishing oils and butters that preserve skin elasticity

Natural care during pregnancy doesn't mean "a sea of products", but a smart selection of a few key allies.

Stretch mark prevention

Stretch marks depend on genetics, the rate of belly growth and skin elasticity – there's no magic wand, but good care can help the skin cope better with changes.

  • Regular massage of the belly, hips and thighs with gentle, nourishing oils or butter
  • Care immediately after showering, while the skin is still slightly damp
  • Patience and consistency – better a little every day than a lot, but occasionally

Recommended products for pregnant women

  • nourishing body butters
  • rich oil blend for belly and hips
  • gentle cream for areas prone to dryness (such as breasts and lower back)
  • hydration
If you have any special diagnoses or therapies, it's always advisable to additionally consult with your doctor.

For Pets

Our furry family members can't read the ingredient list, but they can definitely feel the difference between aggressive and gentle products.
Dog and cat paws are often exposed to hot asphalt, salt, ice, pebbles, and the skin can become dry, cracked and sensitive.

Natural products safe for dogs and cats

For pets, it's important to:

  • use only products intended for external application
  • avoid strong scents and irritating ingredients (scents in general if possible)
  • make sure they don't lick the treated area (if necessary, briefly restrict licking or use protection)

Paw care

Paws are their "shoes" – they wear them everywhere.

Care example:

After a walk, paws can be gently wiped with a damp cloth.
If needed, apply a thin layer of rich natural balm or salve to dry, clean paw pads.
This strengthens the protective layer and reduces discomfort when paw pads are cracked or dry.

Dry skin in pets

For occasional dry skin:

  • choose simple, natural balms without unnecessary additives
  • apply in a thin layer and monitor the reaction
  • if the condition doesn't improve or worsens – be sure to contact a veterinarian
Important: Products you use on pets should always be for external application. For more serious skin damage or suspected allergies, the veterinarian is the first step.

Why Mala od lavande?

When you care for children, pregnant women and pets, you choose what you trust. Mala od lavande is a small family brand that has grown together with the families who have been following us for years.

Natural, without unnecessary additives

We keep our ingredient lists short and readable, with an emphasis on quality plant oils, butters and natural active ingredients.

Safe for the most sensitive

Our philosophy is always the same: if it's not gentle enough for the most sensitive skin, it doesn't go in our products.

Family story, small team, big care

Every jar and every bottle passes through human hands, not conveyor belts. And when we say "handmade", it really is handmade – we can't fill 2000 bottles in one day.
We know what we put in our products and why – and we stand behind it.

And most importantly...
No animal testing

We love paws too much to ever use them for testing.
